Five Guys Burgers & Fries is one of the best burger joints in the U.S. Unfortunately, their visual identity is lacking. I wanted to rebrand Five Guys to create a look that is friendly and relaxed to drive business and welcome new customers.
Divvy is an app created for roommates, couples or anyone else that shares groceries, bills or chores. Divvy is clean and easy to use with everything you need to organize your household duties.
This project is a limited edition package I concepted and designed for the movie Django Unchained directed by Quentin Tarantino. I wanted the design to seem authentic with an Old West feel, but I wanted to give it a unique twist, just like a Tarantino film.
Bill's Donut Shoppe is located in downtown Centerville, Ohio. Bill's is a family owned business that has been around for over 50 years. They ship their donuts across the country and are open 24 hours a day. I redesigned Bill's logo and their website to make it more welcoming and easy to use for customer's of any age. This website is responsive and would be available on different devices.
This direct mail piece for NASA's Kids' Camp was created to spark the interests and imaginations of children and their parents. Initially this project began as a logo redesign for the NASA Kids' Club, but it quickly evolved into something out of this world. The metallic silver envelope is remniscent of a futuristic space suit and the Kids' Club logo adds the perfect quirky touch to attract a child's attention. The package includes a postcard addressed to the aspiring astronaut, a brochure for mom and dad, collectable logo stickers, and something to keep the child's imagination glowing.
In the winter of 2012, I had the opportunity to have a 3 week externship at Hafenbrack Marketing in downtown Dayton, Ohio. I met great people and learned many valuable things during my time as an extern. I created this journal to document my three weeks at the company.
Anytime Fitness is a great gym and I wanted to redesign their look. Their current website is a bit outdated so I wanted to create something that was impactful and inspiring to people looking for the perfect gym to join. The homepage includes reasons to join, inspiring videos from current members and reasons why Anytime Fitness is #1. The site is meant to have subtle parallax movement over the big background images.
For this project, I created a 30 second Flash animation about AMC's Breaking Bad. Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are always up to no good, but this time they're up to something totally different.
For my Capstone project, I was given the task of rebranding Oktoberfest. I did my research, and created a brand that was fun and bold, just like the event. I chose the traditional German colors of black, red and yellow. There are many more parts included in this project which you can see HERE!
At my first ever Startup Weekend, I joined a team that pitched an idea for a chore-related application that aims to allow roommates to punish the "laziest" roommate in the house. The app allows all roommates to join and pick a punishment for the week. The app keeps track of who does chores and at the end of the week, the roommates see who did the least work and can choose to punish that person by either Public Embarrassment via social media, owing the rest of the house money or buying the house beer, pizza, etc. It was a fun idea and my group had to figure out ways to make money from this app, we had to survey users, and pitch the idea to a crowd. By the end of the weekend, we created a working app and won second place at Columbus Startup Weekend.
In my second year at saa, my classmates and I were given the assignment to design a T-shirt for the school to print and sell. In the end, students voted for one to be printed. My design was chosen, printed and sold through saa's website and at saa open houses. I wanted my apparel design to include fun typography with a message that describes the amazing school that is saa.
During my externship at Hafenbrack Marketing, several designers and I were assigned to create a website for a client called NovoSource. NovoSource is a company that sells knee and hip replacement parts. The client wanted a clean, friendly, business-to-business website that doesn't scare people away from their products. I chose a color palette of different shades of light blue, and design details that were soft and calming. I made the product the main focus of the website without making it seem too intimidating.
In my final year at the School of Advertising Art, I was given the task of creating a 30 second kinetic typography animation. I chose the Mockingbird song from the movie, Dumb & Dumber. It took me about 6 days to complete the animation, plus a few days to storyboard and plan beforehand.
I created a logo for a friend's project called Collective. In my own time, I expanded the identity matching the design of the website they had created.
A friend of mine reached out to me about creating the tshirt for my first Startup Weekend in Columbus. Startup Weekend is an amazing weekend-long event where designers, developers and business hustlers gather to pitch ideas and create a minimally viable product by the end of the weekend. Learn more about Startup Weekend HERE!
During my second year at saa, my classmates and I were given the task to replicate a portrait in graphite. Because I worked with graphite so much in high school, I wanted to challenge myself for this project. The portrait took me an estimated time of about 10 hours to complete.
